One
doesn't live by bread alone. A human being naturally needs physical
contact with other human beings. Our ancestors would pass hours,
examining, scratching and cleaning each other, or simply staying
very near to each other. They would also all sleep together. We,
in comparison, suffer from an almost total lack of physical contact
with friends and relatives. For many, sexual activity is the only
moment of physical contact. And this doesn't favour a stress-free
sex life. The relationship between couples is expected to fill a
very large void, which becomes overloaded with expectations and
anxiety. Cuddling is an essential requirement for living in good
health. It comforts, calms and restores.
Why
can't one pass an evening with one's male and female friends, cuddling
and massaging each other?
This
is a big social problem because our customs and traditions don’t
provide similar pastimes. Everything that has to do with the body
is relegated to the domain of anxiety, sexuality and sin. It has
been like this for the past ten millenniums. But perhaps the time
for change has come.
